Us women, too

Amparo and Ana are two women from the Colimba community who wake up at 5 a.m. to begin their workday. They light the stove to boil water, milk the cows, prepare breakfast, and send their daughter to school. Then they clean the pigsties, feed the chickens, and head out to harvest potatoes. These two women embody a kind of labor that often goes unseen. Their husbands claim they are the ones who work, while their wives “do nothing” at home. This is the story of the invisible labor that sustains an entire community.
