The narrative is conducted by the confused living consciousness of the asylum "Abraxas" marked by good and evil, prison and liberation. “The Legend of Abraxas” is a Grindhouse feature film of surreal fantasy and psychological horror, shot in anamorphic cinematography with grain and 16mm heavy aesthetic and finalized (Blue-tinted Black and White). Structured in nine chapters, prologue and epilogue, each part reveals traumas, desires and delusions of the inmates, mixing experimental performance, existential drama and metaphysical horror. The soundtrack plays a central narrative role as an immersive element that intensifies the hypnotic captivity. The film constructs and reconstructs poetic frames from an original concept of minimalist dramaturgy and visceral performance. Each artist was challenged to an immersive one-day recording experience, starting from the development of their own character. No one knew each other beforehand, and there was no access to a traditional script. At the NONADA art gallery, a feature film was shot using improvisation techniques in single takes, in what FeerumLab calls “cinema of the subconscious,” aiming for ultra-fantastic realism. The work is based on the supreme principle of Surrealism: psychic automatism, described by Breton in the Surrealist Manifesto, which has just turned 100 years old. “The Legend of Abraxas” is collective madness as a mirror of humanity.
