The Descendants of the Orange”أحفاد البرتقال” is a documentary short film that follows a Palestinian family in Nur Shams Refugee Camp in Tulkarm, tracing their forced displacement from the village of Sabbarin during the 1948 Nakba to their life in exile. Through intimate interviews with the father, mother, and brother-in-law, the film explores the emotional and physical toll of living as refugees, culminating in the most recent displacement from the camp on February 9, 2025. At its heart, the film weaves the story of the orange — once a symbol of abundance in their native land — into a powerful metaphor for loss, identity, and the right of return. The Descendants of the Orange is a deeply personal reflection on memory, resilience, and what it means to belong.
