Joaquim José de Campos Leão, also known as Qorpo Santo (1829-1883), was a playwright, poet, journalist, and grammarian. He lived most of his life in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. He was declared insane in his time and had his assets confiscated. Although his theatrical work was written in the 19th century, his plays were only staged from the 1960s onwards. A good part of Brazilian theater critics considers him a precursor of the Theater of the Absurd. This short fiction film, which blends actor and puppets manipulated in "live action," is inspired by the life and work of Qorpo Santo to create a reverie in which the playwright, lost in the labyrinth of his mind, encounters some of his characters. The film is part of the Research Project "Dialogues between the narrative and poetic elements of Animation Theater with audiovisual productions," of the Postgraduate Program-PPGAC, of the Arts Center-CEART, of the State University of Santa Catarina-UDESC, and was funded by the Culture Support Program - ProCult / UDESC Culture Campus 2023-2024.
